Introduction

For this task, I am required to go over some of the trends and factors that have transpired in the
travel and tourism industry. I will be going over things like; when the trends and factors emerged,
how they have improved over the years, until now. In addition, I will be explaining how these
developments have had an impact in the travel and tourism industry. As M2 task, I will be going into
depths about the impacts the three trends and factors have in the travel and tourism industry.



Trends



Growth of low-cost Airlines:




P5- Throughout the years, the transports industry has developed vastly, which has resulted in the
growth of low-cost airlines. In the olden days, planes were rare and because of that, to get on one
would cost a lot. That is why back then, only wealthy men used to travel by planes. Whereas now
there are more planes out there and the competition is high, which resulted for most airline
companies to reduce their prices so that they can attract more customers. For example, EasyJet
Airline and Ryan Air are among the cheapest airlines to date. Therefore, it has become a trend for
young people and elderly people with a strict budget to travel with airlines like EasyJet. Back to when
the days when planes were rare, not only were the planes rare, but they were also unsafe compared
to now. Now that planes have developed drastically, even the budget priced airlines are safer to travel
with, they reach destinations quick too, and they are comfortable enough. Due to the low cost airline
trend, the rise of holidays being bought has increased significantly because airlines like EasyJet can
take you abroad at low cost.

M2- The trend of low cost airlines has many effects in the travel and tourism industry. The most
common effect of the modern day budget priced airlines is the reduction of travel time as it is now
much quicker to reach your destination, even with airlines like EasyJet. To put it this way, a journey
that takes more than 8 hours to reach by car, can take less than 2 hours to reach by low cost airlines
such as Ryan Air and EasyJet. On a budget priced airline, depending on your budget, you can choose
on whether to travel with economy class or first class. Nevertheless, whichever class you chose to
travel with, you will still be spending less. This appeals to a wider range of people because with
EasyJet, they can acquire themselves a first class seat at low cost too. Even with low cost airlines,
customers get amenities. What I mean by that is during their flight, the airplane staffs will be
