Introduction:

We visited the national sea life centre in Birmingham on the 2nd of November. They have
been around since 1996, therefore, this year they are celebrating their 20th anniversary. Sea
life centre is an aquarium that has approximately over 60 displays of marine life. They have
over 1 million litres of ocean tank which house over 2,000 sea creatures including different
species of sharks, giant turtles, octopus and other rare species. This organisation is
categorised as a private sector because they’re not funded by the government. Sea life is
owned by Merlin entertainment- which is owned by Blackstone company. Merlin
entertainment is not only the biggest European entertainment company in all of Europe, but
the 2nd biggest entertainment company in the world, just below Disney world company. As
well as sea life, Merlin entertainment own several other attractions such as Thorpe park,
Alton towers etc. In total, merlin entertainment run 116 attractions in 24 countries worldwide.
The types of tourists that this organisation was aimed at are domestic tourist. However,
occasionally they do receive inbound tourists too.




Aim:

Quoting the manager of sea life Birmingham, the main aim for Merlin entertainment
group is to overtake their leading competitor Disney world and become the number
one theme attraction enterprise in the world. This aim of theirs is not a fairy-tale as
they have already conquered Europe by being the biggest European entertainment
company in all of Europe as well as being ranked 2nd in the world for best
