P3 Prepare a document to explain the issues related to the use of information • The Legal issues material needs to summarise these relevant data protection laws:- Data Protection Act 1998 & Computer Misuse Act 1990 and how they affect the college’s use of information. • The Ethical issues material needs to summarise these relevant codes of practice:– staff use of email, use of the internet and whistle blowing (see Brooklands Policies in the unit folder) • The Operational issues material needs to explain how to keep information secure. This should include:- data backup methods; organisational policies – IT Password Policy; and business continuance plans (disaster recovery). M2 Now you have explained the issues related to the use of information in P3 above, now underneath each issue section, explain how the organisation should respond to the issues • Legal Issues – what must the College do to ensure they comply with each of those laws • Ethical Issues – what must the College do if their Policies are breached (again use Brooklands Policies); give the for and against ethical augment with regard the content of those policies. • Operational Issues – What effect on the College would the increasing sophistication of systems have; for example increased costs and employer responsibilities for higher trained personnel to deal with the more complex software and hardware.
